I hit the thrift store jackpot a few weeks ago. I found a box of vintage scissors that were sorely
under priced. I didn't complain. In fact, I quickly and quietly bought the entire box. They fit perfectly in the crock with the rest of my collection next to my trusty
Bernina 830.
There's something so heavy, solid, and healthy about vintage sewing equipment. Much more dependable than today's light, plastic equipment don't ya think?

Wow! That is a pretty amazing haul. I buy all of the vintage scissors I can find at estate sales. It's so nice to use something that doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart in your hand.
such a great score! And what a terrific collection to have. I agree, that vintage stuff just feels better to use, like it will never let you down.
i love this collection, amber! and couldn't agree more about vintage...
I agree, friend. how nice to be able to add to your collection. sending love, nicole
How cool! My mom has a pair that I love from the fifties, and I just love the way it feels in my hand. She periodically takes them in to be sharpened, and I always worry something will happen to them.
I loved reading your blog. Most of all I can appreciate your love of family, nature, and simplicity. I used to sew but now am to busy, unfortunately.
Seeing your Bernina and scissor collection reminds me of those days.
Thanks for being a positive, natural, blogger.
