Sickness

I've never considered myself a person who gets sick often. I've always felt healthy and vibrant, and still do to some degree. But since becoming a parent, I've come down with colds more often than ever. I suppose it's all the bugs my little boy's hands touch and carry home throughout the days. Perhaps it's because of the lack of sleep I now get since becoming a mother. I don't know. But I'm tired of it. I'm particularly tired of this darn cold that I've had for what feels like over a month now.

Today I'm trying a new strategy, to just ignore it. Get out of bed, get dressed, open my curtains, clean my house!, prepare some foods. Maybe even do my hair, something I haven't done for weeks now. Go about my day, run errands, and just hope it goes away. I do believe in the power of the mind, and I believe a positive attitude can do great things.

Wish me luck today in finally overcoming this obnoxious flu.

I hope you get better quickly, it's so hard to be a tired and sick mama.

I just came down with a cold this week and it is killing me! I havent had a full blown cold forever-- I should have listened to my body's craving for orange juice a few days ago... hope you feel better!

I hope you feel better. With two little school boys in my house, we get our share of colds and sicknesses. I know this sounds yucky, but whenever I feel a cold coming on, I smoosh three cloves of garlic into the bottom of a mug and then pour hot water over it. I add in a spoonful of honey and drink it down. I do this probably twice a day, and while it doesn't get rid of the sickness, it sure tones it down!

I do hope you feel better! Being sick is really unpleasant but feeling bad about myself because I haven't been at full force for a month is even worse.

Here's some hot tea with a little lemon.

good luck; hair and makeup always makes me feel better (plus a nap in the afternoon).

I do that sometimes too - it can work for a time. Hope you heal soon.

Sorry you don't feel well, I feel compelled to share my favorite health remedy which I start using daily at the end of august: 2 cloves of raw garlic every morning (after breakfast, with whole milk, or with something fatty that will cushion the stomach from the garlic.

Raw garlic, is used by native americans who teach their children to eat it raw.

If I have a tingle in the throat, or if I was next to someone sick, or have reason to bulk up on the garlic...4 cloves, morning and night.

I don't get dreadfully sick anymore (I used to cough and struggle the whole winter), but if you are in a sickness...I would eat as much garlic as you can tolerate. Eating cheese straight can increase how much garlic you can take.

Some people will say correctly that dairy causes phlegm...but what I have found is that the phlegm is spiked with garlic...it is like a antiviral and antibacterial blanket in the lungs..and even a long standing cough can't last long with garlic around.

Also avoid sugar which cripples the immune system.

Sorry for such a long comment, I just love to tell people about garlic and how much better the winters can be!

I wish you luck! I agree. I believe in the power of our minds, even if the sickness does not pass, if you just do all you do and keep going... ignoring it will help you a ton!!!!
