I've Been Saving My Pennies
I love film photography. In my collection of cameras, I have several film cameras but only two digital, which are both broken. As Burl has been getting bigger and more mobile, it's been difficult for me to capture him on film. This boy just doesn't sit still.
We have a big glass jug where we save our change. Every few years we'll count the coins, which usually adds up to a few hundred dollars or more, and do something fun with the money. This year we decided to upgrade to a better digital camera.
I take my film cameras to be serviced by a local man who owns a camera repair shop. I've had my eye on a Nikon D40X sitting in his little shop for a few months now. It's in mint condition, and he wasn't asking much for it. So we bought it. I'm a little afraid of it, it's so fancy and fragile and has so many modes and buttons. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped or bumped my old clunker pentax k100 and it just keeps on clicking. Let's hope I don't brake this one.

I'm a camera-dropper too and the only ones I broke were the point-and-shoots. I'm on my third SLR, and that's from the husband upgrading me as opposed to breakage; my dear friend and my sister "inherited" the previous cameras and they've still got a lot of life left! I wonder how our penny jar is doing... Think it will take us to Ireland? Ha!
Great investment! Especially for a talented photographer such as yourself. You've inspired me to start collecting my change now too!
Yay! As a fellow mama of a small boy i agree - digital is the only way to capture them! :)
Interesting!
I am looking into learning the art of film.
I wouldn't give my dslr for anything though, especially as Poppy begins to move faster and faster!
